Terms of use and licensing

Terms of Use

Climate Trunk is designed to be shared by linking, not by copying or reusing the graphics without permission. Unless otherwise stated, the words and graphics (the ‘Content’) on this site are original work created for Climate Trunk.

Copyright © Climate Trunk. All rights reserved.

Permitted use

You’re very welcome to:

  • share links to pages on this site
  • reference or discuss the work in conversation, teaching or writing
  • share pages on social media by linking directly to the site
  • share the automatically generated preview images created by social platforms when linking to a page.

You may also share unaltered screenshots of Climate Trunk graphics on social media, provided that:

  • the post clearly credits Climate Trunk and/or John Lang
  • it links back to the original page on www.climatetrunk.com.

No licence is granted for downloading, reproducing or reusing images beyond this unless agreed in writing over email.

Social media sharing

Please feel free to share Climate Trunk on social media by linking to the relevant page. This includes:

  • unaltered screenshots shared as part of a post
  • standard link previews generated automatically by platforms.

Screenshots may not be:

  • cropped, edited or modified
  • combined with other graphics, branding or text overlays
  • used in standalone image libraries, carousels or repositories
  • reused outside social media platforms without permission.

Where possible, please link back to the original page.

Restricted use

Unless permission has been granted or stated otherwise, Climate Trunk graphics may not be:

  • downloaded and reused in presentations, reports or publications
  • republished in newsletters, websites or printed materials
  • incorporated into teaching packs, slide decks or handouts
  • modified, adapted or repurposed for institutional, organisational or commercial use.

More broadly, the graphics and visual material on this site may not be reused beyond the permissions above unless a licence has been granted.

I’m building Climate Trunk as an ongoing project alongside other work. Licensing is intended to help make it sustainable over time – supporting the time needed for research, maintenance, data updates and creating new content.

Licensing, educational use and prints

Licensed use of Climate Trunk graphics is available by request.

Licences may be granted for:

  • classroom and educational use
  • organisations and institutions
  • publications and events
  • printed materials and exhibitions.

Depending on the type and scale of use, this may involve a fee or a donation.

Prints of Climate Trunk graphics are also available to order. Ordering a print gives you the right to display that print for personal or professional use, for example in a home, office or classroom. It does not transfer copyright or grant permission to reproduce, distribute or reuse the image in other formats.

To enquire about licensing or prints, contact hello@climatetrunk.com.

Attribution

Where licensed use is granted, attribution is required unless otherwise agreed. Where screenshots are shared on social media, a link back to the original page is expected.

Conceptual references & adaptations

Some Climate Trunk graphics build on, reinterpret or visually translate concepts that are already widely discussed.

While the underlying ideas may sometimes be familiar, the visual design, layout, wording and presentation are original to Climate Trunk. That does not change the copyright status of the graphics, and reuse still requires permission unless stated otherwise.

Other notes

This site may occasionally link to third-party websites. Climate Trunk is not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

These terms may be updated over time. By using the site, you agree to the latest version published here.
